Lauren McKay Interiors has been designing residential and commercial spaces for clients in the Triangle and beyond since 2017.

Our services include full-service design and furnishing for new construction projects, whole-home renovations, offices, as well as decorating and styling services.

We provide AutoCAD layouts, elevations, and renderings and work directly with builders and contractors to develop plans for all aspects of your space— walls, flooring, lighting, cabinetry, counters, plumbing, furnishings, outdoor living spaces, and more.

We also take care of all the details— from millwork and paint to furnishing and accessorizing your space.

As a small firm we provide a personal touch to all of our projects, and take pride in client satisfaction. We love our clients and rely almost entirely on referrals for business!

I started Lauren McKay Interiors with a vision to help clients improve their lives through their homes. The design of your home has a tremendous effect on your emotions, your productivity, your sense of place— your home impacts every part of your life!

For me, Interior design has been a lifelong passion. I grew up in small-town Shelby, NC where I spent my childhoo
d rearranging doll houses and bedroom furniture, inspired by the beautiful homes and spaces I saw in magazines and TV shows. So it really is a dream come true that now I get to help others create beautiful spaces of their own.

I moved to Raleigh in 2003 to attend NC State University, where I studied Art+Design. I also earned a degree in Interior Design from Meredith College. I have more than 16 years of interior design experience, including new construction, renovation, residential and commercial projects. I became NCIDQ certified in 2010.

When I'm not designing, I'm usually chasing my daughters and son around the house, practicing my photography skills, or, in rare moments of calm, enjoying a glass of wine and binge-watching TV with my husband.

Favorite place to travel: Bald Head Island is such a unique and special place for our family, and I love Paris because I'm enamored with French design and influence.

Top three restaurants:  Stanbury, Jolie, and Sono.

What is your most rewarding professional experience?  There are two career highlights that stand out - working on the NC State's chancellor's residence, and designing nurseries and filming the Baby Makes 3 reality show for PBS!

(But I'm most rewarded by our clients smiles and genuine appreciation for design at the end of a project!)

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from East Carolina University and over six years of residential design experience in the Raleigh area. When it comes to design, I love the challenge of curating projects of all styles.

Projects that feel the most natural for me to design are full of texture— timeless neutrals paired with intriguing pops of color and finished with soft accessories that encompass the feeling of “home” that is unique to each client.

North Carolina has always had my heart— from growing up in Winston-Salem, to getting my degree in Greenville
, and now making Wake Forest home— I can't imagine living anywhere else! Outside of work I love to recharge by relaxing with my husband, our two dogs Tank and Moose, and either watching movies or lounging in nice weather.

As a sketch artist, I am constantly inspired by my surroundings and enjoy picking challenging subject matter to draw. The piece I am most proud of is a graphite pencil drawing of Carter-Finley stadium that I did for my husband.

What would people not expect about you? I am a huge Marvel and Harry Potter nerd… and I would choose to watch an action movie instead of a rom-com any day.

You’re on a desert island, what 3 foods would you miss the most? Chicken wings, pizza, ice cream.”

What is your most ambitious bucket list item? I would like to be featured in an international interior design publication within the next ten years!
